Fatima Moldashova is a long-time Kazakh language and culture specialist living in southern California.  She has an MA in Applied Linguistics and possesses specialist knowledge in several areas of language pedagogy, language resource procurement, and interpretation. She has taught Kazakh at Stanford University and is a translator of both English and Kazakh literature.

From court interpretation in Russian and Kazakh to language advocacy initiatives, Fatima’s background and professional experience cover a wide breadth of research and professional applications. Fatima recently lobbied for and won the recognition of the Kazakh language in the Los Angeles public schools.  Her advocacy work also includes involvement in several support communities for gifted children in the Los Angeles area. Most recently she has been helping Kazakhstani parents of autistic children acquire access to resources in the U.S., attending summits, talking to researchers in this field, and translating resources. Additionally, she fomented a program that implements cultural adaptation training resources from Autism Speaks within the Kazakhstan autism fund Bolashak.

Fatima’s career pursuits and related initiatives have led her to travel extensively through different areas of the Eurasian space, including throughout North America. She is originally from Western Kazakhstan, where her family still resides. She currently serves as a Kazakh language tester and linguist consultant for diplomats.
