This program consists of two phases. Drone familiarization and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certification courses.
Phase 1 is the Familiarization Class and will help the student determine their level of interest in drones and the skill to take the Phase 2 Class. Phase 1 includes an overview of the industry, types of drones, flight basics, FAA and Drone Technology, Drone Pilot job requirements, and types of jobs for Drone Pilots. This Phase 1 class is FREE of charge and is 6 hours of online instruction on ZOOM over 3 days, 2 hours each day. The Phase 2 class prepares the student for the FAA commercial drone pilot license test. This Phase 2 class is self-paced and includes a video lecture and a written transcript to accommodate different learning styles.
In order to fly your drone under the FAA’s Small UAS Rule (Part 107), you must obtain a Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA. This certificate demonstrates that you understand the regulations, operating requirements, and procedures for safely flying drones.
